The public must be made aware of the best examples of sincerity in this religion and know it is to be for G-d’s purpose only.

This article presents several principles that address the notion that extremism is acceptable in Islam. When fairly considered, it is obvious, that Islam’s adherents have strayed away from the most profound principles of their faith.

Taking innocent lives. Savagely killing without conscious.

Collectively, humanity rejects that behavior, and only fools think that G-d accepts those actions.

Even when seeking relief from domination, Islam offers to its adherents and to the world, sobering instruction that nullify all forms of extremism.

By way of Prophet Muhammad, Islam instructs Muslims to “Fight until there is no more persecution and religion is free for G-d.”

The first part of that verse tells us that once an enemy stops assaulting, Muslims are to stop fighting them also.

More important than that, the second part says that religion is to be free for G-d and that implies that there is the possibility that religion may not be in fact, free for G-d. That there’s a chance, religion may not be established correctly in the people.

Religion may fall into the grip of oppressors who use it to keep the masses ignorant, under their control, used for their own selfish benefit and not allow religion to be free as G-d had intended. Nor should religion be used by the government, or by those who want to dominate the people, but let it be free for the individual to have their life with their G-d. A full life. A full freedom. The Qur’an mandates it. Prophet Muhammad established it.

A glaring failing of Muslims is, they forget what G-d says of Prophet Muhammad in the Qur’an, that Muhammad is sufficient as a leader for all people, and in him can be found an excellent model to follow.

Contradicting that model is not acceptable if you claim Prophet Muhammad as your leader.

Prophet Muhammad was a peaceful man who did not like to fight. He took terrible abuses and still never had the spirit to fight. G-d had to command him to: “Fight until there is no more persecution and religion is free for G-d.” He didn’t have it in his nature to fight.

But when revelation came commanding him to fight, it was his nature to obey G-d.

When Prophet Muhammad went to war, he instructed the Muslims to follow a code of ethics.

He instructed them to keep the Muslim behavior safe and not let war change their nature by becoming motivated by the cruelty of war.

Muslims were not to treat civilians as persons who were armed against them. No harm to civilians! He even said no injury to crops or trees the people depended upon for their living.

So this cruel behavior the world has witnessed did not come from Muhammad the Prophet and certainly not from Islam. That cruelty was produced by the influences of the world.

When reading the Qur’an Muslims are reminded that G-d says: “And follow the best thereof.”

That is practical advice for reading any scripture. Religion invites people who are on many, many different levels. Different levels of understanding, different levels of morality, different levels of sincerity, etc. etc. etc.

There are extremists who read the Qur’an and read into it something that is not there.

Similar to that is like the Ku Klux Klan’s claim to have found pages that they’re following from the Bible. They also take the worst thereof, not the best thereof.

The extremists follow what they think those pages suggests to them with the very strange minds that they have.

Extremism is not part of Islam’s faith system. But the west has unjustly labeled Islam as the religion of violence and being evil at its core, while knowing from experience that even America stumbled before she found her present day footing.

Much can be written about how America’s former slaves didn’t attack and attempt to destroy the beautiful premise found in the spirit of the noble document that came out of the 13 colonies when seeking independence from the British.

With Frederick Douglass leading the way, they appealed to the moral consciousness of those leaders, and reminded them of the glaring inconsistencies and shortfalls, that its citizenry exhibited, in order to maintain its disgusting system of slavery.

It was their behavior that was invalidated.

Not the guiding principles this country was established upon and hailed in its founding documents.

Americans would do well if they took a page from that history, and make the clear distinction between what the religion Islam actually stands upon, and the lack of regard for it that its followers are actually displaying.

Just as the descendants of former slave owners have finally come to understand the message that constitutes America’s special idea of freedom, the west should remind the Muslim world of the great principles of faith that Islam demands, but how shameful it is that they have terribly deviated from their own religion.

Advice to America From a Muslim

We are blessed to have a parallel with scripture.  Scripture provides the knowledge of Adam’s Genesis.  It also reveals to us that the path to his destiny is an enlightened discipline of education.

As “New People” we will do well if we consciously and on purpose follow, and educate ourselves and our future selves, to our scriptural parallels, begining with Adam.

It is from G-d’s words that any “New People” can draw to guarantee a rise to success.

Scripture provides to a “New People” the word of G-d as guidance and as a warning to avoid a particular tree or knowledge.

And if the “New People” fall to the subtle seduction of the seducer, then the indestructible word and the undefeatable spirit out of G-d’s word will cause the “New People” to rise and stand again after repentance.

My reference to Imam Mohammed’s fiqh on salat is quite obvious in the above words.  Our salat’s connection to Christ’s message is also evident.  I guess I’m one of those who believes that Imam Mohammed’s very detailed tafseer and language explains and provides a full understanding of the life giving essence and meaning of salat for all, including all mankind.  That salat is from Prophet Muhammed.  Its application is relevant from Adam to Muhammed.  Or from a “New People” to Muhammed.

I’m sure that there are others out there also specifically working to integrate into their lives, (1) the elements that create healthy (individual and community) life, and (2) the elements that sustain healthy (individual and community) life, which are indeed found in our divinely given prayer ritual.

I would like to again point out that Imam Mohammed reminded us that scripture also gives a warning to Adam, to a “New People” – to us.  Warning us to avoid a particular knowledge.  Scripture reveals that Adam still fell. Our prayer ritual reminds us of the fall also. {+}

Imam Mohammed shared with us his insights as to what causes civilization to fall also -  objective reasoning, and empiricism that misses the mark:

“The story of humans in a community setting, starting life on Earth in a paradise given the name Eden, serves to assist man, that is, industrial man, working man, for avoiding crisis, and, explaining crisis.

It all got started when object, (spelled) o-b-j-e-c-t hyphen reasoning(object-reasoning), won sway over moral urges, or moral urgings, in the human soul.”

Imam Mohammed’s fiqh also provides us a very healthy way to view ourselves as descendants of slaves, and what our citizenship in this great nation means for us now and for our future.

Therefore, the vision for our life should be complete for each and everyone of Imam Mohammed’s associates.  Allah blessed Imam Mohammed to provide that.

We Are Adam

“… Allah gave us a perfect book, a perfect example and he(Prophet Muhammed) worked out the calculus of the application of Islam in his lifetime.  The book was complete in his lifetime.  He read it, verified it, that is by the recitation, verified its correctness.  Was present there and he built the city.  He built Medina-Tul Munawwarra.  It was the example of how society is supposed to be established.

He gave the principle, he set the model, set the standard.

So you have the religion.  You have the living person.  You have the living model example, and then G-d concluded it.

You have no excuses.  And the way of life, Islam, perfected.  And the Prophet showed us everything we needed to know about how to live it, while he lived.

The same five pillars are in place.  Same beliefs are as they were when he lived.  No change.

… Every time Muslims come to prayer, the lesson is in front of us.  But if we have so sacralize the prayer, all we will ever see, and we don’t have guidance from a person like Imam Mohammed, all we see in it is, ‘I’m just suppose to do it.’”

The Prophet’s Isra

Behold, Moses said to his attendant, “I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel.” But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel. When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: “Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey.”  He replied: “Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish: none but Satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvelous way!” Moses said: “That was what we were seeking after:” So they went back on their footsteps, following (the path they had come). So they found one of Our servants, on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our own Presence.

Al-Qur’an, Sura 18:60-65 (Al-Kahf [The Cave])

“Imam Mohammed points out to us that a metaphor is a symbolic picture, that holds or enshrouds something real that G-d wants us to have or that He wants to reach us with…  …We’ve already said that the junction of the two seas is a state of being, where we are balanced between the spiritual and the material.”

The 7 Sleepers (Youth who believed in their Lord and who were advanced in guidance – Sura 18:13-14), represent a metaphor for what believers sometimes have to do when the religion is oppressed in their society and then what should happen after the oppressive period is over.

Moses Meets The Wise Man

In September 2008, Imam Mohammed traveled with his wife, Sis Khadijah Siddeeq Mohammed, to Atlanta Georgia, so that they  could be with Khadijah’s  gravely ill brother, Qaadir.  Allah took Br Qaadir’s soul on September 8, 2008 (May Allah Grant Him Paradise).   Imam Mohammed returned to his home in Illinois, prior to Qaadir’s passing,  and it was deemed by Allah,  Sis Khadijah would not see her husband, and our leader alive again.

On the day that Imam Mohammed was traveling back to his home, Imam Plemon El-Amin of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam was serving as a court monitor in Atlanta and unknownst to him, was notified that Imam Mohammed was visiting the WD Mohammed school there.  Once his court duties were over and he was back in communication, he found out that he had missed Imam Mohammed’s visit to the school.

Not wanting to miss any chance to meeting with his leader and teacher,  Imam Plemon learned that there was about two hours left before Imam Mohammed’s flight was to depart and he rushed to the airport hoping for any opportunity to speak to Imam Mohammed before he left Atlanta.  Al-hamdullilah, it was Allah’s will that Imam Plemon was to speak to Imam Mohammed.

This is a brief video of Imam Plemon, as he shares with us a part of his two hour meeting with our Leader, Imam Warith Deen Mohammed, America’s Imam.  Presumably, it was the last time Imam Plemon saw his leader prior to his janazah.  Imam Mohammed(May Allah Be Pleased With Him and Grant Him Paradise), passed from this life on Sept. 9, 2008.

I am bringing this project not as a finished product.  In fact right off the bat when playing the audio portion of this historic lecture, it is quite obvious that what we have managed to salvage of it at this point, does not include the very beginning of the lecture itself.

Regardless of that, the portion of the lecture that we do have is a ‘must need to have’ for all of Imam Mohammed’s studious students.  This is my attempt to help meet that need.

There are portions of the audio itself that I can’t quite make out, and I am in need of  a few different ears to help figure out or even understand exactly if possible, the Imam’s precious words.

There are caveats though.  You have to be a studious student of Imam Mohammed.  The sensitivity of the language in this lecture requires that caveat.

So, unless I know you personally, or you can show that you are Imam Mohammed’s student, then I will have to take a pass on you, if you offer to help.

Yeah, I know what you are thinking.  Surely there are friends that I can go to without having to make this public request.  And there are.  But part of the reasoning for doing it this way is to see just how many people visit this blog.  This blog must stand or fall on its own merits.

Usually, as I’ve done in the past, I would post this request in the Yahoo group that I am member of.

Samson’s Riddle and The Conspiracy

Placed over the camp’s main entrance gate, was the slogan Jedem das Seine (literally “to each his own”, but figuratively “everyone gets what he deserves”).

Included also in Buchenwald were Jews, communists and social democrats, priests and homosexuals, Russian prisoners of war, and other non-desirables to the Nazi regime.

In an article, written by John Kantara, a 44 yr old Afro-German documentary filmmaker and freelance writer, the story is told of how Schramm, then just 15 years old, survived his year-long imprisonment in Buchenwald.

Schramm was protected by the older white prisoners, who surrounded him during the daily roll call.  “They knew if he were in the front lines at roll call that he would not last very long.”

Imam Mohammed has said:

Allah (swt) comes and says, “They met on the far horizon as two arrows fired by the same bow. So you can imagine two arrows going from one string of a bow that fired them out. So Allah (swt) is saying that the spirit of My Messenger (pbuh) is in perfect agreement with My spirit. My spirit has entered him and now My spirit has become his spirit. His spirit and his intelligence is going for the same objectives as two arrows fired by one bow, praise be to Allah (swt). It is wonderful if you can follow it and appreciate it.

In concluding this I want to say to you that you are the original man and that is the same as saying you are Adam.

G-d said to Adam that I have created all this for you to bring this into human life and make a paradise for yourself or a garden of paradise for yourself on My planet that I created. So man was made to engage this material world as a man, a husband will engage his wife.

You engage your wife for her pleasure and your pleasure, for her future and your future and look how you are reproduced. The human being is reproduced as males and females.

If you will let your intellect and your heart that G-d created engage the external world of material things like you and your wife get engaged and then get married, right?

So if you will engage this material world with your mental, intellectual interests and with your heart, caring with your heart like you engage a woman that you love.

And you give this world attention like you give the woman who you love, that attention you give this world is going to give you products.

This world will be reproduced and your children that will come from you will also be affected by the world. They will be enriched by the influence that you have opened up from the world. And the world will be feeding them and it will be just like males and females reproduced again.

The world will be reproduced better, your children will be reproduced better because of the meeting together of the two, the male and female, the counterparts: man’s spirit and matter.

An excellent cause to rally around!

New Africa is a vision of the future. No vision of the future can be transformed into a reality if it is not clearly understood mentally and felt spiritually. Imam Mohammed has been inspired to see our destiny and he has clearly articulated the chain of events that will eventually lead to the reality of New Africa.

Imam Mohammed has provided piercing insight into the plan of Allah for this people that have experienced a most unusual and peculiar history.  In order to fulfill this divine destiny, to communicate it to those who share this destiny with us, and to pass it on to the future generations that must internalize the vision and continue building its manifestation, we must work hard to grasp the concept of new Africa; its meaning and its demands upon us.

The concept of New Africa is a vision from Imam Mohammed. It is a concept that is connected with Imam Mohammed’s commentary on Allah’s usage of slavery to fashion a new people and his covenant with that new people. It is also connected with the Imam’s commentary, at the inception of his leadership, on how his community would redeem and restore the African American and remake the world and how his role as a Mujeddid would renew the evolution of the Islamic community. Finally, this concept of New Africa is an inspiration and strategy to connect the African American (Muslims from his community in particular) to the mission he gave us to build a model community.

New Africa is not simply about African American Muslims building businesses, controlling our own schools, and building our own Masjids, although these things will certainly occur when New Africa starts to manifest. If it were only about these things, then we could attain these goals by simply moving to a Caribbean or African country where the President is black, there are plenty of black-owned businesses, the schools are black, the Masjids are built by blacks, etc. In fact, we have that same situation in many of the cities that are dominated by African American populations.

Allah did not allow us to go through slavery simply to raise us to a level where we can do only what other people do naturally. No indeed, there is an extra special, extra serious purpose that Allah has planned for us and it is our command from G-d to understand this purpose so that we can dedicate our life to its cause.

Let’s first summarize what Imam Mohammed has said about the role of slavery in preparing us for the mission Allah has placed upon us. The African was so thoroughly captured, so completely dominated, so brutally assaulted, so reduced to dust and cut off from all hope and ability to save himself that he could only cry to his Creator. His bare soul cried to the heavens with such sincerity, with such fervor, with a pitch so piercingly sincere that it had the same purity of the cry of a new born baby. It was at this point that Allah took that new soul and breathed his inspiration into it and began a new creation.

Allah inspired many great men and women with courage and character to speak to our people and our oppressive nation. They said let my people go free. The march of the African American towards freedom transformed our country from its ugly past to an example of freedom and equal opportunity for all. It is Allah’s covenant with the people of soul to inspire and lead the world in the fight for freedom, justice, and equality for all and against the evils that attack the natural human potential of us all.

Among the many great and inspired men and women that Allah sent to us was Imam Mohammed and his father Elijah Muhammad. Most of us understand the contribution the honorable Elijah Muhammad made to the upliftment of the African American. He restored our self-esteem, confidence, taught us that we must think like a nation and unite to accomplish our goals. He gave us a picture of what our community should look like.

Allah has sent us an even more powerful mind and example in Imam Mohammed, but I contend that most are still grasping to understand how to best implement his concepts and how to best follow his leadership. While beyond the scope of this article, this understanding is essential if the true New Africa is to be manifested.

Imam Mohammed taught us in 1975 that slavery emptied out of us all of our human essence. Therefore, if you put the natural human being back into the person, he or she will begin doing everything that a natural human being does. We will build the schools, businesses, and the institutions we need. So the builders of the New Africa civilization must identify and learn the natural concepts that a natural human being must live and be guided by and then organize and promote these ideas in every form and fashion.

The builders of New Africa would be a community of people that organize to fill up the neighborhoods with messages (words) through books, songs, plays, lectures, discussions, that promote the life-giving concepts. By disseminating this information throughout the community, we shape the womb that feeds the mind of the people in the neighborhoods. This new womb will reform and reshape the minds of the people and produce more sober-minded people to help build New Africa.

To accomplish these things, the need for businesses to generate money becomes apparent and necessary to fulfill the mission. The need for education and dawah becomes critical to learn and teach the concepts and spread the ideas.

One more example of what New Africa builders need to know is the method that Imam Mohammed used to transform the Nation of Islam. If the Imam’s transformation method worked for us, we should be able to use it in the larger community to transform it. He has told us that by changing the language environment, by reinterpreting the concepts that we believed in, he was able to change our thinking. Similarly, New Africa builders should constantly learn the language of Imam Mohammed and identify how to use that language to change the language environment in our neighborhoods. We should organize and implement activities that promote the new language amongst the people.

What distinguishes Imam Mohammed from other leaders has not been the businesses that he has established or the schools or Masjids he has built. What has distinguished him from other leaders has been his powerful insights and interpretations of scripture, the science of human nature and human society, and his ability to read the signs in creation and apply it to highest wisdoms in life. This wisdom, coupled with his new model of character for African American leadership has set him far above the minds and behavior of previous African American and Muslim leaders.

It is upon the basis of these things that New Africa should be built, not the standard teachings that already exist in African American and Islamic thought. For certain, New Africa will establish the practice of religion (prayer, fasting, holidays, etc.) and it will build schools, businesses, and houses of worship. However, these are foundational practices and ideas that one can attain without the wisdom of Imam Mohammed. Let us make sure that we do not latch on to these critical, but basic ideas and overlook the new mind and unique ideas of Imam Mohammed that should be at the core of New Africa. Can we see it? I pray to Allah that we do.
